Overview

The proprietary D-fend, D-fend Pro and Mini D-fend water traps protect the gas module from contamination, humidity and secretions.

The gases are sampled from the patient, passed through the water trap, into the module for analysis. The water trap inhibits bacteria, viruses, water and mucus from entering the monitor.

There are application-specific versions for both Anesthesia and Critical Care environments. Correct handling of water traps is crucial in protecting the sensors inside the module and providing seamless accurate gas monitoring.

Single-width gas modules

The D-Fend Pro water trap was developed to protect the gas analysis system from moisture and contaminants, and to enable the seamless operation of CARESCAPE respiratory modules.

The PTFE membrane of the D-Fend Pro water trap inhibits bacteria, viruses, water and contaminants from entering the respiratory measurement system. Water traps are simple to handle and the water container can be emptied whenever more than half full.

Instruction for use

There are application-specific water traps for Anesthesia and Critical Care.

  • D-Fend Pro water traps are developed for anesthesia care.
  • D-Fend Pro+ water trap are developed for critical care.

Replacing the water traps will help protect gas module from contamination, humidity and secretions and therefore will:

  • lengthen the lifetime of module and minimize down-time.
  • Reduce service costs of module.

Replacement intervals are defined as follows:

  • In anesthesia, change the D-Fend Pro water trap whenever the host monitor displays the “Replace water trap” message or every two months, whichever comes first.
  • In critical care, change the D-Fend Pro+ water trap for each new patient, whenever the host monitor displays the “Replace water trap” message or every 24 hours, whichever comes first.

Double-width compact gas modules

The GORE-TEX membrane of D-Fend water trap inhibits bacteria, viruses, water and mucus from entering the respiratory measurement system.

Instruction for use

There are application-specific water traps for Anesthesia and Critical Care.

  • D-Fend water traps are developed for anesthesia care. Change the D-Fend water trap whenever the host monitor displays the “Replace water trap” message or every two months, whichever comes first.
  • D-Fend+ water trap are developed for critical care. Change the D-Fend+ water trap for each new patient, whenever the host monitor displays the “Replace water trap” message or every 24 hours, whichever comes first.

E-miniC CO2 module

The GORE-TEX membrane of the Mini D-Fend water trap inhibits bacteria, viruses, water and mucus from entering the respiratory measurement system

Instruction for use

  • In Anesthesia, change the Mini D-Fend water trap whenever the host monitor displays the “Replace water trap” message or every two months, whichever comes first.
  • In Critical Care, change the Mini D-Fend water trap for each new patient, whenever the host monitor displays the “Replace water trap” message or every 24 hours, whichever comes first.

Mini D-Fend water trap is specified for use with the module E-miniC
