Clinicians and technologists demand
seamless dataflow between digital imaging systems; however, most systems are
not plug and play. Digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM) is
the protocol that offers the ability to transfer information between disparate
imaging systems. This session explores the history of DICOM, explains where and
why it is used, and gives the student a working knowledge of the vocabulary of
this powerful protocol.
