Positron emission tomography is a powerful technique that allows noninvasive metabolic imaging of the brain. In the past, PET has been used primarily in research settings. In recent years, because of advancements in technology and the growth in the number of PET scanners, PET is increasingly used in clinical neurology to diagnose neurological disorders and to monitor disease progression and response to treatment. This program provides an overview of the principles of PET and its applications to clinical neurology.
