Overview

By the end of this program, the viewer should be able to: 

  • Discuss the physiological principles underlying functional MRI (fMRI) as well as discuss the physical principles of this technique.
  • Recognize and detect potential artifacts that may affect functional MRI.
  • Review various pulse sequences specific to functional MRI that enhance image quality in the diagnosis and evaluation of various disease processes and experiments.
  • Identify issues related to safety while working in the functional MRI environment.
  • Justify the benefits and influences of magnetic field strength and gradient radiofrequency (RF) coils in detecting functional MRI signals.
