By the end of this program, the viewer should be able to:

  • Review the basic principles of MRI and how it works.
  • Define the Larmour frequency and how it relates to varied field strengths.
  • Describe the radiofrequency (RF) coil concept and the effect it has on MRI quality.
  • Discuss how longitudinal and transverse magnetization relate to image quality and how they relate to various pulse sequences.
  • Review the various MR parameters that affect image quality, such as, signal-to-noise, contrast, resolution and more.
